Windows Live SkyDrive (initially Windows Live Folders) is part of Microsoft’s Windows Live range of online services. SkyDrive is a file storage and sharing service that allows users to upload files to the computing cloud, then access them from a web browser. It uses Windows Live ID to control access to the user’s files, allowing them to keep the files private, share with contacts, or make the files public.
I had a problem with Windows 7 where the Compressed File option was missing from the Send menu. Luckily I knew how to bring it back. This will work for Windows Vista also.
1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R or go to Start > Run.
2. Type regsvr32 %windir%/system32/zipfldr.dll
3. Click OK.
See if the Compress Folder option is back. If not you may have to perform these steps.
1. Open Notepad.
2. Click File > Save As…
3. Name the file Compressed (zipped) Folder.ZFSendToTarget and Save it.
Try that out.

Given that Windows will assign a drive letter as a first-come, first serve basis to removable media it can get frustrating to always try for the same drive letter. Here is one way to assign a specific drive letter to a USB drive.

In Windows XP SP2 and Vista you can disable writing to USB devices altogether by implementing a simple registry hack.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Control\StorageDevicePolicies] “WriteProtect”=dword:00000001
**Note: I inserted a break after …Set\< br>Control… to fit into post page.
Once done, reboot and you’re set. Make sure others don’t have Administrative rights, otherwise they could easily set things back.
