There is a far better way to get into Windows XP. It is easy and it does not reset the password. By default, Windows XP creates an Administrator account that is usually hidden from fast user switching unless you go to Safe Mode (F8 on boot). If your computer came preinstalled with XP, this admin account likely has no password, making it easy for someone to boot your computer into safe mode and wreak havok. In Windows XP SP2 and Vista you can disable writing to USB devices altogether by implementing a simple registry hack.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Control\StorageDevicePolicies] “WriteProtect”=dword:00000001

• Restart your PC and press F8 repeatedly before Windows loads to open Vista’s Advanced Boot Options screen.
• Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and press Enter.
• On the low-res Windows Welcome screen, choose the Administrator account, which by default has no password.

You probably know about the “hidden” administrator account in Windows XP. It’s the only account on XP systems on which no other accounts have been created.
Until you add a new account, you zip right to the desktop when you boot the OS, with no stop at the Welcome screen. Once you set up one or more new accounts, the default administrator disappears, though you can bring it back in both XP Home and Pro. (More on this below.)

When I discovered Kon-Boot and posted it in this blog, I got many request in forum on how to put Kon-Boot ISO image file to USB.
